Courses are taught at varying times and locations, currently San Francisco, CA, in January and Washington, DC, in July of each year.  In April 2006, a third program site is added: Chicago, IL. Other times and locations may be selected from time to time.

Beginning with 1997 and continuing through the January program, 2005, The Evaluators' Institute® requested and received endorsement from the Board of Directors of The American Evaluation Association as a service to its membership and others interested in advancing the profession of evaluation. TEI is the first endeavor of this nature the AEA Board has so endorsed.

The Evaluators' Institute® does not share information on its contacts with any individual or organization. This includes any information we have acquired from course participants and others who are on our mail lists.

Names are removed from our mail lists when we are requested to do so. However, TEI does purchase lists from other organizations for one-time use for mailing brochures and notices about upcoming events and news of TEI. Thus, it is possible for persons to receive unwanted mail from us because they are on another list and have not asked that organization to keep their contact information confidential.

The TEI certificate program was developed with the assistance and support of national and international leaders in the evaluation profession. Their names and support statements can be found at the certificate section of this webpage.

The Evaluators' Institute offers certificates for professional evaluators. Three of these are course-based and the fourth is competency based. These are offered to assist individuals in planning a program of study in evaluation and to provide public acknowledgement of completion of this study. They are: Certificate in Evaluation Practice (CEP), Certificate in Advanced Evaluation Practices (CAEP), Certificate in Quantitative Evaluation Methods (CQEM), and Master Evaluator Certificate. The certificates are meant to augment and enhance learning that students acquire from institutions of higher education, and to offer alternative ways for individuals to add to their knowledge and skills for practicing evaluation. TEI cannot guarantee that class participants learn the subject matter presented in courses, but much effort is made to help attendees learn (e.g., texts -- where an appropriate and current one is available, class materials and readings, bibliographies, etc.). We do believe that the more knowledge and skills evaluators have, the more confidently and effectively they will produce and disseminate knowledge about what programs work and for whom. TEI and its instructors cannot attest to nor are they liable for the content or quality or outcomes of evaluations performed by course participants.
